Dionne Schmidt, MA, LMFT strives to help couples come to a deeper understanding of trust and healthy communication patterns in an affirming, safe space for all. 

Dionne specializes in helping couples improve communication and trust within the dyad. She also enjoys working with individuals adjusting to life adjustments related to relationships and family dynamics. She has experience working with couples related to infidelity, adjusting between being a spouse and a parent, postpartum depression, the effects of substance abuse in a family, role dynamics within the couple, as well as grief and loss. Dionne enjoys pre-marital counseling and helping all couples establish a solid foundation for their union. She incorporates aspects of health and wellness into therapy if a client desires with her background in Nutrition. Dionne utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and aspects of mindfulness with her clients to help them reach their goals in a safe, therapeutic environment. Dionne believes we can all become "unstuck" through the therapeutic process and hopes to join alongside clients as they enter their own unique process in the office or over telehealth. 

Dionne grew up in Washington State and North Carolina. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor in Dietetics and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master in Counseling, with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. Dionne is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of North Carolina.

Dionne would describe herself as active and open for most anything; however, her true enjoyments are: reading, coaching youth soccer and basketball around Charlotte, and distance running. Dionne values exploring the globe and finding new cultures/foods in her travels with her husband and their three daughters.
